Working of Laser Resurfacing:
A laser beam is directed towards the affected area of the skin where the scar needs to be removed. The concentrated laser beam penetrates the outer layer of skin, vaporizes the moisture content and burns the surface skin. In a few weeks time, a new layer of skin grows back on the removed skin layer. If the scars are deep, however, it can take much longer for the new skin to appear.
It is a painless procedure, however, redness and dryness of skin is common for a few weeks after treatment. Proper moisturizers should be used to combat the dryness of skin. Although, it is being used to treat deep rooted acne scars, it is not a proven treatment for treating facial acne as such the other available treatments. These treatments are pretty expensive and should be carried out only after consultation with a dermatologist.
People who use Laser treatment to treat blemishes and scars report itching, redness and sometimes a sun burnt feeling in the skin for a long time. It has also caused swelling and pigmentation for some people. There is also a risk of infection as the inner skin layers stay exposed for a long period of time.
